China Glaze Shocking Pink Nail Polish – Review, Swatches, Long Lasting Test

Hello lovelies!

I worn China Glaze Shocking Pink a few times during the summer and I completely forgot that I haven’t reviewed this shade yet. The main reason is probably because I was at the sea side when I took the photos and I came upon them a few days ago when I was going through my summer photos. I received this color together with China Glaze Spontaneous (swatches & preview) and Model In a Bottle Sensitive Formula (review) from Beauty Stop Online a great cosmetic shop where prices are usually half than in normal online and beauty stores. Their retail price for China Glaze nail polishes it’s absolutely amazing since the normal price is $8.00 and on Beauty Stop Online is $6.00 and even $2.99 for shades which comes from old collections.

Now for only $2.99

China Glaze Shocking Pink nail polish (14 ml/ 0.5 fl oz for $2.99 / 24.00 Lei) is a true electric barbie pink which dries within seconds due to its neon texture. It doesn’t look so sheer in one coat as it does look uneven but the second coat makes the color more vibrant and brings it closer to a full opacity. If you can take it I would recommend even a third coat to even out the color and give it a nice soft matte finish.

The application was pretty ugly, I don’t want to lie about that. This formula is very light, almost on the watery side and the first two coats were very streaky and pooling so my advice is to wait for the first coat to fully dry before applying the second one. This color can also be easily transformed from a matte finish into a shiny one by simply adding a layer of top coat which will make everything come together if you don’t  want to add that third coat of nail polish.

Being a neon polish and having the advantage of quickly drying within seconds it also has the disadvantage of chipping pretty fast too. I worn this color for 3 days when I was at the sea side and it chipped right from the second day so I did gave it a second chance and worn it later on during the summer but with the same results. The color still looks vibrant but a little bit more pale after 3 days wear and the finish is more mattifed but that wouldn’t be a problem since the polish has a matte finish to begin with but the chipping is terrible as you can see from the photos. It’s really a bright pink gorgeous shade so if you don’t mind re-applying this color on your nails every 2 days I say you should go for it, especially since you won’t have to wait more than a few seconds to dry.

  1. Major probs on your honest review. I thought that the
formula sucked and your picture was the only
True picture. Thanks again. Love the color hate the formula.

    • I’m always trying to write my reviews as honestly as possible, telling the bad and the good things like they are. I’m true to my readers and if a product is not as good as companies claim it to be, then they need to know there’s more work to be done, formulas to improve. The color is gorgeous, such a shame the formula is sneaky. 🙂
