Kinetics Mock Black is another shade from Kinetics Fall – Winter 2012 Let’s Pink Collection (preview & swatches) and is the third shade I’ve chosen to wear after Black Silk Nail Lacquer (review & swatches) and Royal Ink Nail Lacquer (review & swatches) both from the same collection. Because I’ve filed my nails a little bit more this time I wanted to try another dark shade which will fit great with my short nails.

Kinetics Mock Black Nail Polish (€6.00/ 25.00 Lei for 15 ml/ 0.5 fl oz) is very very dark gray with some hint of blue in it. This color can look really dark almost closer to black but I assure you is not black. It has a light creamy formula just somewhere in the middle between thick and watery, just the perfect combination to make this color glide beautifully on the nails.
It looks opaque in one coat and the second coat intensifies the color which has a super glossy finish. The top coat adds even more glossiness but you can skip this step if you are not planning on wearing this color for long. As a base coat I used Kinetics Nano Rhino Treatment for Soft Nails (review & swatches) and as a top coat I used Kinetics Nano Shark Treatment for damaged nails (review & swatches). I applied top coat only on 5 of my nails as usually and kept the color for 5 days.
I do have to make a quick specification before we get to the part of how my nails look after 5 days. I’m not saying this to justify the nail polish but only to tell you what happened on the 3rd day before we can jump to the photos. I normally don’t do very hard cleaning around the house when I’m wearing a nail polish that has to be reviewed but this time I did. I clean the stove and the oven and because I run out of cleaning gloves at that moment I had to do it with my bare hands. Honestly I cleaned and scrubbed for about an hour and a half after I realized that I completely forgot that this polish needed to be review. So even if this was happening on the 3rd day I still decided to keep it on for another 1 or 2 more days because after some minor chipping at one nail the polish still looked good, not perfect but after all that scrubbing it looked pretty decent.
On the nails were I worn a top coat I had minor tip wear and the color looked mattified and had marks of lines all over it which is understandable after I put it trough. On the other nails were I haven’t worn a top coat things are a little bit dramatic with the difference that the polish chipped from one of my nails. I was pretty impress with this color that after all the cleaning I did that day (the oven & stove was just the beginning) the results were only minor tip wearing and a mattified color with some marks on it.
