MAC Holiday 2012 Glamour Daze Collection – Quick Review & Swatches

by Tavia

Hello beauties!

MAC Holiday 2012 Glamour Daze Collection (info & promo photos) was finally launched in my country last week but only yesterday I had time to go check out in person, take photos and swatch some of the products. Being the first MAC Christmas collection and one of the few that will be available in Romania, some of the products were already sold out by the time I got there.

The upcoming MAC Holiday 2012 Collections and gift sets will become available starting 3 December 2012 at both MAC locations so you should hurry if have your eyes set and some favorite products/shades because I have a felling those goodies will be sold out very fast. I will try to attend the launch event next Monday so I can take photos and swatch all the shades and post them ASAP on my blog so you can decide what products to get.

Availability

Now at all MAC Locations and online @maccosmetics.com

Romania – now at MAC Store within Mall Baneasa and Mall Vitan

Check out the photos and swatches right after the jump.

Extra Dimension Eyeshadow ($19.15 – €20.00) come in 8 shades but unfortunately one shade (A Natural Flirt – soft peachy nude) didn’t make it all the way to Romanian MAC Stores so there are only 7 shades which come in a smaller packaging than the regular ones and also contain a little less product. All of them are new shades with a formula that feels like a powder and a little bit dry but with a mineralize effect. They apply softly and smooth and they are all frosty colors. Ready to Party looks a little bit sheer but the rest are pigmented frosty shades and was sold out very fast. The rest of the shades are still available in limited edition.

Extra Dimension Skin Finish ($29.00 – €27.50) comes in 2 shades repromote from previous collections, originally launched in March 2012. Superb which was sold out in a couple of days has a soft and smooth texture but a little bit different than the baked products. It’s described as a soft peachy nude with multidimensional shimmer, a shade that is universally and complements light and dark complexions. It has a super shiny metallic finish just the kind you need for glowy cheeks.  Whisper of Gilt is a light soft white with gold shimmery sheen which has the same smooth, soft and dry texture with a metallic finish.

Powder Blush ($22.00 – €24.50) come in 3 shades with a matte satin finish. They are pigmented and buildable so it’s up to you to decide if you want to wear them sheer or more pigmented. You can definitely add more layers and build up the color if you want a stronger color on your cheeks.

Lipglass ($16.50 – €20.00) comes in 2 repromote shades (Flight of Fancy and Fade Pink) while the rest 3 shades are new. They all come with doe foot applicators and some of them look really sheer. Pink Fade is a light creamy pink with a cream finish that makes it hard to apply the color evenly and also settles into lip lines. Talk To Me Softly is a light creamy coral pink with almost the same problems as Pink Fade. Flight of Fancy is a dark rich purple which delivers a semi-opaque color coverage and looks uneven on the lips. Deliciously Demure is a soft cool brown with a hint of pink and lots of shimmer. It looks mostly opaque on the lips and delivers a lot of shimmer. Impossibly Sweet is described as a sheer soft pink with multi-dimensional pearl but I find it more like a clear gloss with multi-colored sparkle and a hint of yellow.

Lipstick ($16.50 – €21.00) colors are all new and limited edition shades. Glamourdaze described as a cream tone plum color with a creme sheen finish and opaque color coverage. Beauty is a pale cool toned pink with a glaze formula. Innocence is a soft coral with frost finish which deliver an opaque color. Dramatic Encounter described as a deep purple looks more like a dark burgundy shade to me with an amplified finish which delivers an opaque color coverage. Outrageously Funis a blue-based magenta violet with a cremesheen finish and opaque color.

Kohl Power Eye Pencils ($16.50 – €17.50) are all repromote shades. The one that got my attention was Mystery described as an intense black with green pearl which looks totally different swatched than how it looks in the actual pencil.

Your swatches are great. You should do them more often.

Hi Marcia! Thank you….I go to MAC once in a while…it’s quite far away from me. 🙂 They invited me next week when they launch the gift sets.
