Orly Steal the Spotlight Nail Lacquer Review, Swatches, Photos

Hello lovelies!

Orly-Steal-the-Spotlight-Review

Last year I purchased a bunch of nail polishes that I got to wear only no latter than a few weeks ago. Orly Steal The Spotlight nail lacquer is one of those shades and even though it was released back in September as part of Orly Sparkle 2014 Holiday Collection (info, photos) I still wanted to give it a try. From that collection I have also purchased Orly Explosion of Fun nail lacquer (review, swatches, long-lasting test) which I got to wear a couple of times and it was rapidly counted among my favorite toppers.

Orly Steal the Spotlight Nail Lacquer ($8.50/ 45.00 Lei for 18 ml/ .6 fl oz) is officially described as a shimmering turquoise. This is more than just a turquoise, for me it is a light to medium turquoise which leans more towards the green side and has those small rounded shimmering particles that change their color depending on how the light hits. Sometimes it’s easily to notice the pink and gold shimmer while other times you’ll see it like a greenish turquoise with copper and violet sparkle. Orly Steal the Spotlight is such a versatile and interesting color that will take a few good wears before you can say you got tired of it. It has a jelly formula a little bit thicker so you won’t get an even application right from the first coat but it will show a good glitter payoff right away. It looks very sheer in just one coat applied on its own but over a colorful nail polish it comes to live and shines beautifully. I used it over Max Factor Gleaming Teal Gel Shine Lacquer (review, swatches, photos, long-lasting test) which is a beautiful cool toned green teal and the combination was magical.

In two coats, Orly Steal the Spotlight gets a little bit more opaque but it keeps a translucency so if you really want to work out only with this shade then you might wanna use up to 3 or 4 coats. The application was nice, problem-free and the lacquer glided easily across the nails. I applied one layer of top coat on my left hand nails while on my right hand nails I decided to go with only one coat of Max Factor Gleaming teal and one coat of Orly Steal the Spotlight so I can see if this combination is as long lasting as it’s glamorous.

I had 4 days wear with this formula before the polishes started to cheap off so I noticed how different are the results between my nails. My right hand nails are definitely looking better so I would probably go and apply Orly Steal the Spotlight lacquer over a colorful base from now on and I know I’m curios to see how it will shine over a black polish which is usually my favorite combination.

I took a few photos of this lacquer under the sunlight and it has such an amazing and strong sparkle and shimmering effect that you will love for sure.
