Review -Too Faced – Smoky eye – Palette

by Tavia

Yesterday I stopped by Sephora and took a look to those new fall 2009 collections. I promised myself before entering the shop that it will only be a short visit, cause I knew that if stayed there more than 10 minutes I would empty my credit card.

So, in my short visit to Sephora I stopped by Too Faced stand and took a look to the Natural Eye Palette that Karen from makeupandbeautyblog reviewed last moth. I liked the colors a lot, in the fall I use lots of light browns, bronze and dark browns colors, but I’ve decided to choose the Smoky Eye palette and try a different makeup style this autumn. This palette contains lots of vibrant colors and especially a beautiful dark green and blue. I admit that it has been years since I’ve used green and blue shades but as I said I want to make a change in my makeup style and also I was interested on the smoky eye color combination between green and blue.

I didn’t had yet the chance  to use these beautiful eyeshadows, but I promise to come back with 3 makeup options for all these  colors from the palette. As you can see from the photos, the palette contains 6 eyeshadows (3 eyeshadows of 1.9 g and 6 eyeshadows of 1 g), 3 cards with helpful tips for 3 makeup styles ( every eyeshadow row from the palette has a card with makeup tips for a successful smoky eye) and 2 double-sided brush/sponge applicators ( they could be helpful if you go in a trip or you take the palette with you in your bag and you don’t want to carry your brushes with you)  that I haven’t tested yet, but I prefer to use my brushes, since I’m still at home.  This smoky eye kit contains everything you need to create sexy lids. It’s also a great portable kit, that can be easily taken with you in your purse or in vacation to use it for any occasion. Jerrod Blandino, Too Faced founder and smoky eye expert comes with 3 suggestions for a smoky eye look. So if you keep this kit close to you, you will see that it will be perfect for any occasion.

This product was tested on celebrities and not on animals. I wanted to tell you that because I know some beauty brands test their products on animals so many women have decided to skipped them.

The top row contains more natural colors that can be used for a Day Smoke Makeup. I tend to use this colors a lot lately and it will be very easy for me to achieve a natural smoky eye look.

The second row contains more vibrant colors and I have to admit for me will be a challenge to mix that wicked green and midnight together into a Fashion Smoke Makeup. From the swatches I’ve made I don’t know if you can see so well that this wicked green and midnight are very pigmented colors. I’m sure they will look their best on my lid if I would apply before the Too Faced shadow insurance. I’ve been using it for a while and it’s a true friend when it came to lasting makeup. I’ve test it on high temperatures this summer and it worked perfectly. After a whole summer day (I’m talking about 40 degrees temperatures) my makeup was still in place.

The bottom row contains the classic colors for a Classic Smoke Makeup. The black suede shade is a very strong and matte shadow comparing to the black spark that is a little shimmery and should be put on the outer crease. The silver shade it’s also a shimmery one but very light and perfect for blending.

The Too Faced Smoky Eye palette is available at 34$ on Sephora shop or you can even order it online from their site.

These shadows look fantastic! I’m a fan of Shadow Insurance, it works great…more than great, perfect! I usually use it when I go out, it’s incredible how the shadows stay. in. place.

Ohhh, where did you get it from for 34$??? I am looking for a two faced palette for ages, but they are too small and too expensive… i love this one but can’t see it being only 34$ even if it is an old post:(
