My experience at Make Up For Ever and Sephora beauty shops

Hi Girls!

Today I went to Make Up For Ever (MUFE) professional beauty shop decided to check out their goodies and to buy a new foundation. Almost 2 months ago I’ve bought All Mat Face Matifying Primer (I will review it shortly)  from Make Up For Ever and since I was so pleased with it I’ve decided to buy the foundation from the same brand.

The shop was not very big (almost the size of my living room) but full with all the products of the new collection and makeup accessories. When I entered the shop the 2 makeup artists present there were very polite and they offered to help me right away. It was a pleasant surprise to see that they have makeup artists in the shop instead of beauty sellers like in other beauty shops and let me tell you that the difference was huge. They were really aware of all the products in the shop (at least of all  that I’ve asked for) and they could also help you with makeup tips and advices . After checking out some of the new products I’ve stopped to look at the HD foundation and one of the makeup artist was glad to help me out.

Make-Up-For-Ever-Professional-shop

I told her that I’m looking for a new foundation (for oily skin) and she invited me to take a seat at the makeup table, where she will test some of the foundation on my skin. Here was the first difference (in the positive way of course),  because working with clients all the time she really knew what I needed and showed me the only 2 foundation fit for my skin type.

Since I knew that I was going to look for a foundation I didn’t put any makeup on my face (only mascara and lipgloss) so she started by testing the Mat Velvet Matifying Foundation (for oily skin type) after she used a makeup cream removal. Maybe in other countries is normal that when you are shopping for a foundation a makeup artist should assist you and test the foundation on your skin, but believe me that here this is not happening (most of the times sellers try the products on their own skin) and this was the first time when I’ve experienced this in my country and I felt great. I definitely told to myself that I will comeback since they were so professional in choosing the right shade especially since I’ve never tried their foundations before. Continue Reading

Hello Ladies! We already know that purple is the “new black” this Fall. Being part of the actual trends, this shadow is included in most of the 2009 Fall Makeup Collections. It’s also one of my favorites eyeshadows colors and it adapts to all complexions and all hair colors. The trick consist in finding the right dose and depending on its intensity, purple can cover a range of very strong colors from taupe-like purple to pink and periwinkle. It’s also a very nice shade that goes well with bronze or turquoise. You can play with these combination and create a look that will give the eyes a greater depth and mystery.

Make-Up-Forever-Ultra-Violet-Fall-2009-Look

Today I’m going to show you step by step how you can achieve the Make Up Forever Fall 2009 Look.

The “must haves” for this look are the violet and steel gray eyeshadows and the Aqua line waterproof pencils.

COMPLEXION

Apply HD Primer Pink # 7 ( $32 ) to freshen up the complexion. This primer will nourish and moisturize your skin making it soft and glowing and in the same time creates a barrier effect so that the foundation will not be absorbed by the skin. The HD Primer has an non-oily finish so this mean that you don’t have to wait a few minutes before applying your makeup.

Declare war to acne with Avon, Clinique, Vichy, Garnier, Boots and Maybelline products

We all have those days when we woke up in the morning we look in the mirror and we discover a fresh new pimple. These situations don’t happened to me very often, but when they do they kind of kill my day. For these kind of problems and even for others acne problems more severe I found a strategy. Out there are products designed to help us defeat the acne problems, we just need to look for the good ones.

The other day I was reading a post about How to Treat Post-Acne Scarring and I decided to develop this idea and talk to you about all the products that I have tried concerning this problems. Let me know in your comments if you have any other ideas about products that can help us fight the acne and their scars and even those red spots or pimples.

Avon Solutions Plus Pure Pore - Fection Self - Foaming Cleanser

If we just keep some rules in mind and follow them we can diminish the apparition of pimples and win the war against acne. So here are some steps that helped me in those situations and I hope to be helpful for you too.

  • Don’t sleep with your makeup on! It’s essential that your skin is perfectly clean during the night. You can use a makeup remover product that also has antibacterial action, morning and evening.

My recommendation: Try the Solutions Plus Pure Pore – Fection Self – Foaming Cleanser from Avon ( 150 ml) with bamboos and bisabolol extracts. It’s an oil-free product that will give you a tingly clean feeling. Cleanses deep down to remove dirt and make-up, leaving skin feeling refreshed and energised.

  • Clean the pores! For this you will need a mask specially created to reduce and prevent the apparition of pimples and dark spots.

My recommendation: Use twice a week, Clinique Oil-Control Cleansing Mask (19,50 $ for 100 ml), the new acne solution. This clay-based mask will help heal your blemishes, prevent breakouts and also will keep your skin shine-free. This is a good mask to use even for those ladies who don’t have acne problems but have an oily skin like mine, because its medicated formula gives your skin a deep clean, unclog  pores and rid skin of excess oil. Anyway it’s a mask designed for all skin types so it can’t have undesirable effects on your skin. All the process takes me about 7 minutes, while I apply the mask evenly on my face ( avoiding the eye area), then I wait 5 minutes and after I rinse off thoroughly with warm water. My skin feels smoother and clearer after this. I also like it because it has an oil-free formula and it won’t irritate my skin.

Clinique Oil-Control Cleansing Mask

Another great facial mask that I love and I’m currently using is Clinique Turnaround – 15 Minute Facial mask, and you can check out my review for more details. Continue Reading

Silver eyes – cool and natural makeup look

Silver is perfect as an evening makeup and emphasizes the eyes, no matter the color. If you take a peek to Giorgio’s Armani summer collection and you’ll study the radiance makeups based of metallic gray, you will see that I’m right.

Choose products for both lips and cheeks that include in their composition shiny particles. Even celebrities like Blake Lively adopted this makeup. Let’s get inspired by this  natural makeup. You can use some products from my suggestions bellow or you can try your own and let me know how the look came up.

Innocent look – The makeup that makes you look younger

innocent look After the age of 25 the search of the innocent beauty becomes a purpose. We want to look fresh and young. I know I want it every time I look in the mirror. This thing can really become possible. We only need the courage to adopt a natural trend.

If you are used to cover your face with lots of makeup, foundation and powder, your complexion will start loosing its natural color after a long period of time. Of course you can choose solarium or creams with tan effect if you really want to.

I start using foundation and powder only 3 years ago, because I noticed that during my working hours on my complexion begun to appear some red spots. I used to work in a place where was a lot of smoke from cigarettes and cigars and this smoke was entering deep into my skin. I have to admit that I’m a non smoking person and I try  to keep away from all the smoking areas as much as I can. After a period of time while I was working in that place, the effects start appearing on my face. When I got home, all the time I start a cleansing routine and OMG you don’t want to know how black and dirty were my makeup removal pads. So, I decided to start using a foundation and powder, just to protect my skin against the smoke.  Now I quit working there and during the summer I don’t cover my face with anything (besides face creams with SPF, of course). Sometimes during the cold season I like to use Vichy Flexitent, but not everyday.
