Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

by Tavia

Hello sweeties!

I feel like I can never have too many nude eyeshadows, as I’m loving a natural and casual makeup look during the day. The other week I got to try Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette, that got released last year and I was so excited as I’m more into the matte finish shadows rather than sparkling ones. I have hooded eyes so matte shadows are a must, especially to be applied in the crease. The palette combines warm and cool toned shades, lighter and darker so you can easily achieve a day or night time makeup look.

Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Shadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.39 oz.) includes nine neutral eye shadows from the best-selling Natural Eyes palette that were turned into a matte finish ones. The shades are officially described as rich pigmented and blendable, but keep on reading to find out my opinion. Inside the palette you will also find step-by-step instructions with three looks to get you started.

The palette comes in a metal case with a magnetic closure and with a mirror encased. It fits in my hand perfectly and it’s very easy to open and hold.

Heaven Eyeshadow is a very light beige, with a subtle yellow undertone and a matte finish. It’s just a hint lighter than my skin tone, perfect to apply it on the brow bone or blended above the crease or on the inner part of the lid. The texture feels smooth and silky but in the same time I feel it a bit dusty. It has a semi-opaque color payoff and it’s easily blendable. I got around 7-8 hours wear before I noticed it started to easily fade.

Cashmere Bunny Eyeshadow is a medium taupe brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It has a good color payoff with a medium opacity. The texture feels smooth, very silky when swatched and applies well without fall out. It’s easily blendable, has no fall-out. It’s a wonderful transition color to be applied in the crease, especially for those with medium and darker skin tones.  I had around eight hours wear with this formula without fall-out.

Sexpresso Eyeshadow is a dark warm toned brown with a matte finish. It has a good color payoff, good pigmentation but the texture felt a little bit powdery. It’s quite hard to blend and work with it. I blend it using circular and windshield wiper motion blending techniques but it took me a while to make it fit with the other shades. It started to show signs of fading after seven hours on me.

Lace Teddy Eyeshadow is a light, muted peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It has a smooth texture but very powdery and thin. I noticed how powdery it will be right from the first swatch so when I applied it on my lid I preferred to gently pat it and press it on the lid rather then feather it in. It has a medium color payoff and it’s the kind of shade that I would use on the lid or on the inner corner of the lid. It had no more than seven hours wear with this formula before the color started to wore off.

Strapless Eyeshadow is a medium rosy-brown with a matte finish. It has a good color payoff with a medium opacity. The texture was smooth and silky, but not so soft as the others, making it less powdery. It was very easy to work with this shade, easy to blend and apply without any fall-out. It lasted on me for about eight hours.

Risque Eyeshadow is a very dark brown with neutral undertones and a matte finish. Such a darker shade should have come with a richer pigmentation and a decent color payoff. This one swatched semi-sheer and it took several layers to build up the color. It feels smooth when swatched but powdery at the same time, which gave me a hard time during the application. As much as I tried to build up the color on my lid, I just noticed how prone to fading it was…instead of being able to build up the color I felt like I was diminishing its intensity. It lasted on me for about seven hours.

Nudie Eyeshadow is a medium, taupe brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a good color payoff with a smooth and fine texture. It was easily blendable, no fall out during the application. It gave me seven hours wear as the texture was a bit thin so it started to fade kind of quickly.

Honey Butter Eyeshadow is a medium burnt orange with a matte finish. It had a semi-opaque color coverage with a smooth, but a bit dry texture. It applied fairly well considering the texture was a bit powdery, but easily blendable. I had about eight hours of wear with this formula.

Chocolate Cookie Eyeshadow is a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It is one of the best eyeshadows in the palette, with a good color payoff and a nice pigmentation. It has a soft, silky texture, slightly powdery but easily blendable and without any fall-out during the application. I noticed signs of fading after eight hours.
