Guerlain Flash Black Ecrin 1 Couleur (165.00 Lei / $34.00 / £21.15 for 2 g) is a deep black with a slight hint of brown and matte finish. It has a good color payoff, looking opaque swatched and applied without an eyeshadow primer and shows a true matte classic black. Applied over Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer, Guerlain Flash Black mono eyeshadow looks rich, more intense and shows a soft matte finish.
The formula is soft, velvety and silky feeling so lightweight to the touch and applies fairly well all over the lid. I did noticed a bit of a fall-out while blending the color, but no creasing. It adheres well onto the skin, but not perfectly and it shows a deep dark color but is not totally opaque. The color is easily blendable and makes a good candidate for a classic smokey eye makeup.
I like the formula and the texture but I would have expected a true matte black, that very black shade which has a totally high coverage, being opaque when applied onto the lid.
I had about 8 hours wear with this formula without smudging and creasing but after the 8 hours the color started to show signs of fading.
