Perfumes I’m Curently Using – Quick Review

by Tavia

Hello ladies!

How about a perfume article instead of a makeup one? Honestly, perfume is my first addiction followed by shoes, skincare products and makeup. I always loved to have a big perfume collection and trying new scents. I spent more on perfume rather than makeup.

I would really love to know if you are into fragrance more than into makeup and what kind of perfumes are your favorite. 🙂

Some perfumes I like to wear only in winter and other only during summer. I used to have many more before but I’m willing to upgrade my collection soon. My favorite perfumes are from Calvin Klein. I don’t recall a perfume by CK that I haven’t liked, I’m especially addicted to CK Euphoria fragrances, I had all the editions. 🙂

Calvin Klein Euphoria – 100 ml

This is one of my top 3 favorites perfumes of all time. It is one of the most best-selling perfumes in Sephora from what I’ve heard and every year a new Euphoria perfume is being released. I loved Euphoria Crystal from a few years back, a great winter fragrance. It was followed by CK Euphoria Forbidden, another fruity-floriental scent. You can smell the orchid accords in every Euphoria Perfume. I bought this perfume over and over again for more than 5 years now and even if I had other Euphoria’s, the first one is always in my collection. I usually wear it in the cold season since the black orchid, pomegranate and amber accords make it a little to heavy to wear it in the summer. 🙂

Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom – 100 ml

Being a CK perfume this one is also among my favorites but I like to wear it during spring and summer. It has a fresh floral scent exactly I need to blend with the warm weather. It is softer than the Classic Euphoria, its notes are more gentle and flowery. It also has pomegranate and amber notes but they are combines with pink peony, lotus and orchid which gives the fragrance a more springish scent.

Calvin Klein Obsession Night – 100 ml

Another great fragrance from CK is Obsession Night, a really great perfume for sophisticated women who can take the risk of experimentation. It is a fruity scent but more on the elegant side, enriched with vanilla, fresh flowers like bergamot, gardenia, rose, lily and jasmine. Again the amber makes it presents known and although I wear this perfume in all seasons I tend to use it a little less in the summer. I had this perfume two times already, now it’s quite finish but I want to experiment new scents this season so I will say good bye for a while. 🙂

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession – 100 ml

This one is at the bottom of my favorite CK perfumes. It has an exotic, sensual and passionate scent, more sweet than I usually wear. I guess the nutmeg (mace) note is the strongest in this perfume, followed closely by sandalwood and tuberose. I really like the bottle, seems like a magic lamp to me and even though this perfume is too strong for my nose it melts great into skin on a cold day revealing an oriental floral scent.

Calvin Klein Eternity Summer 2011 – 100 ml

Calvin Klein Eternity was one of my first perfumes and I absolutely love every Eternity Summer edition. The one I have left now is CK Eternity Summer 2011 Edition which is my favorite edition. I love the pink bottle of this edition decorated with feminine flower graphics. This is one of my favorite summer fragrances, a perfect combination of lily, gardenia and jasmine. I bought this perfume from duty free last year and for a great prize, something around €45 for 100 ml. I can’t wait to smell the Eternity Summer 2012 Edition. 🙂

Valentino V – 90 ml

I bought this perfume because I smelt it on someone else from a noticeable distance, and it smelt so unique and honestly this is a perfume that will not go by unnoticed. When I’m wearing this I get asked almost everytime for its name or some of the notes. Its notes are quite simple, nothing out of extraordinary but they all come together in a great scent. In my opinion the most powerful notes of this fragrance are vanilla, pear, heliotrope, pink grapefruit, rose and sandalwood. It does have amber and musk and I noticed that I’m really attracted to perfumes that include these notes. I also had Valentino V Ete fragrance which smelt amazingly good and last year I had to choose between buying it again or trying the new CK Eternity Summer 2011 Edition. This year I hope to buy again the classic Valentino V (already had it 3 times) together with Valentino V Ete.

Valentino Rock’n Rose – 90 ml

This perfume was love at first smell for me. It’s among my top 3 favorite perfumes of all times, closely competing with CK Euphoria but never facing a direct battle because I like to wear Rock’n Rose fragrance in spring-summer while I choose the cold season for the other one.Valentino Rock’n Rose is a irresistible elegant and romantic perfume created for rock princesses. Again notes like rose, gardeni, heliotrope and vanilla come together to create a perfect smell. I had this perfume 3 times already and I’m going for the fourth this year. I’m simply in love with it. I also had Rock’n Dreams perfume, a more woody scent also on the romantic side.

Chopard Happy Spirit – 75 ml

I admit I wanted to have this one even without smelling it because of its heart shape bottle. Once my nose got in touch with Happy Spirit scent I was feeling very romantic. 🙂 It has a sweet fruity smell, but tolerable sweet, very elegant. I felt again its musk and amber accords but the most noticeable were raspberry and bitter orange notes. A delicate scent worth having in your collection but I wouldn’t use it very often though, maybe on a date or on a sunny day when I need to feel a little bit romantic. 🙂

Giorgio Armani Armani Mania – 30 ml

This one seems to be a successful fragrance, I know lots of girls that wear it almost every summer, very energetic and with a woody floral scent. I bought this perfume only 2 times since it has been released in 2004. The most powerful notes of this fragrance, or the ones the I instantly feel are vanilla, mandarin, musk, amber, sandalwood and magnolia.

Dolce Gabbana Light Blue – 100 ml

I receive this perfume as a gift and I know it’s a very popular summer fragrance. It has a fruity-floral scent but with woody accords perfect to be worn in the summer. It gives me a feeling of freshness due to its Sicilian lemon, apple and cedar notes.

La Prairie Life Threads Emerald – 50 ml

This perfume has a very elegant bottle and is a oriental floral fragrance with a price more on the expensive side. It’s available only in 50 ml bottles for a price around €100. It’s a very exquisite perfume with different notes than most perfume, like african orange flower, narcissus, iris, angelica or galbanum. I worn this fragrance more in winter and autumn and find myself rarely feeling the need to smell it in summer.

Carolina Herrera 212 VIP – 80 ml

I was really looking forward the launch of this perfume in autumn 2012 since I previously owned 212 Sexy and I loved its soft spicy musky smell. I liked its “golden” bottle from the beginning and I was surrounded by a sweet smell of vanilla mixed with rum. I do dare to say the promo clip and lines had a strong impact on me choosing this perfume because it can smell a little bit sweeter than I’m usually used to. It has quite a strong smell and you won’t get by unnoticed while wearing this fragrance. I tend to leave it aside in hot summer days because those vanilla and rum notes can more than my nose could handle in that season.

Must de Cartier – 100 ml

This oriental fragrance is a little bit resembling to me with CK Secret Obsession. I bought this perfume 2 times but now I’m a little bored with the smell especially since it’s a bit heavy to be worn on this season. The perfume was launched in the year I was born and it’s still and exquisite and complex fragrance. It does include a lot of notes but the most prominent are galbanum, sandalwood, amber and vanilla making it a woody scent and leaving behind the rose, narcissus, jasmine, ylang-ylang, orchid and citrus notes.

Christian Dior Poison – 100 ml

I had to have this legendary scent, a mix between woody and sweet accords but after using it a few times I decided is way to sweet for me. I still wear it from time to time only, mostly in the cold season. It gives me a feeling of dark, mysterious woman, very elegant but yet a woman that is hard to get to know and time is the necessary weapon. 🙂

Tom Ford Black Orchid – 100 ml

Last but not least I give you a classical dark fragrance, one that can stand in line with the best perfume houses. It’s a luxurious and sensual fragrance, very strong in warm spicy, woody and floral accords. Black Orchid is one of the most long lasting scents I’ve ever worn and has a wide spread aura. With this perfume you will risk turning heads even from a noticeable distance. Black Orchid combines notes as Mexican chocolate, gardenia, patchouli, orchid, spices and vanilla. It’s definitely a scent worth having in your perfume collection.

This perfume is also included in my current spring 2012 giveaway because I just received a new one last week. I hope the winner will enjoy it as much as I do.

Please share your favorite perfumes, the ones that you are willing to buy over and over again and you never get bored of smelling them.

Lovely collection I can see you’re a huge Calvin Klein fan 🙂 I have two that I’ve repurchased over and over Burberry Burberry Classic and Liz Claiborne Realities.

You have a wonderful collection! I’m obsessed with perfume too atm, but my collection is still small cos I’m not into sweet floral fruity scents and that’s what most brands are releasing these days. I’m turning my attention to niche brands now and have purchased some Juliette Has A Gun samples that should be here soon. From designer brands I like Versace Crystal Noir and Cavalli Serpentine, they’re gorgeous!

Oh ….I guess perfume is where we stop having something in common 🙂 I smelt Versace Crystal Noir but is not for me. Do you have some special notes that you like in every perfume? I compared all my perfumes and musk & amber are in each and every one of my favorite scents. 🙂

Hi Alexandra! No, I haven’t smelt Burberry London so I don’t know what to tell you about it. My next perfume purchases will be Fan di Fendi and Calvin Klein Eternity Summer 2012. 🙂
