Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Punky Blues – Review, Photos & Swatches

by Tavia

Hello sweeties!

I received the Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio together with some other Shiseido makeup products (photos & swatches) from Shiseido Romania a while ago for testing and review purposes. So far I reviewed the amazing Shiseido Lacquer Rouge RS404 (review, lip swatches) which is going to be available in the end of August 2012. The Eye Color Trio is available @shiseido.com, Sephora, Douglas perfumeris, B&B shops, Marionnaud.

I received Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BL 310 Punky Blues ($33.00 / 183.00 Lei) as a tester so I can’t express my opinion about the original packaging although I know that in comes as an eyeshadow trio palette with a mirror inside which is quite big and two other brushes. The trio palette was inspired by Shiseido Makeup Artistic Director Dick Page and offers alluring combinations. You must love blue shades if you are going to buy this palette since it contains 2 blue shades out of 3 and it might seem pricy at first look.

Each shade contains  0.033 oz. /1 g (0.10 oz. / 3 g in sum) of product so you’ll get plenty of usage out of each. The investment will be $11 per shadow which is fairly reasonable for what they can do.

The Luminizing Satin Eye Color has an incredibly butter-creamy texture, very easy to work with and easily blendable. They are easily applied, feeling so soft almost like they’re having a silky texture leaving a satin finish. Applied without a primer the colors might seem sheer but even so they don’t fade for almost 9-10 hours. Applied over an eyeshadow primer the colors become more pigmented (they can also be used wet for a dramatic effect) and you can build up color until you get the desired opacity.

It was the first time I tried Shiseido’s eyeshadow formula and I can truly say it’s one of the nicest formulas I’ve ever tried being also very easy to work with. The colors are quite unique and it’s hard to find any dupes. This trio would be great for girls and women who are not afraid of wearing a bright blue makeup. I would honestly love to try other shades since I’m not so hooked up on blue, especially now when I’m in love with Luminizing Satin Eye Color’s texture.

The colors are long lasting, they don’t crease or fade (I have oily lids) so my makeup was still pigmented at the end of the day. I’m sorry I can’t show you a photo of my makeup look because it’s been raining here for days now and I can’t get enough natural light to capture the colors.

I will do another post with a makeup look  where I used these shades once I’ll get a sunny day to take some decent photos. 🙂

I hope this review was fun and helpful for you. Since Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios are not new on the market I’m sure some of you already tried these shades so I’m waiting for your opinions about this trio or another one because I know they all have the same fine texture.

Indeed they make a huge difference but I was pleasantly surprised to notice that even when I test them without an eyeshadow primer the colors lasted for more than 8 hours. 🙂

I love this palette. The colors look so pretty and bright when used with a primer, which I always do anyaway as I have oily lids. Thanks for the review.
