MAC Smolder Eye Kohl – Review, Photos & Swatches

MAC Smolder Eye Kohl was released in the MAC Fall 2013 Marilyn Monroe Collection (official info & photos) and I already told you more about this product when I reviewed the entire collection (preview & swatches). This shade is also part of the permanent collection but it was a bit more expensive when it was released as part of Marilyn Monroe Collection. I want to mention that I received the eye kohl from MAC PR along with other MAC makeup products (preview & photos).

MAC Smolder Eye Kohl ($16.00/ €16.50/ 75.00 Lei for 1.36 gr/ 0.048 oz) is described as an intense black and it’s truly a dark black shade with an almost matte finish. It has a strong and vibrant shade of black with a good color payoff right from the first stroke. This Eye Kohl has a soft, creamy formula and glides easily across the eyelid or along the lower lash line. Smolder is a rich color and because it’s such a basic black you can easily find many dupes available.

I worn the MAC Smolder Eye Kohl for the past few days and it didn’t smudge in the first 7-8 hours but after that I started to notice some smudging especially on my lower lash line. If you feel that this formula is not right for you I would recommend you to try MAC Chromographic Pencil or Technakohl, perhaps one of these will suit you better.
