Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect for Summer 2012 – Preview & Swatches

by Tavia

Hello lovelies!

Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect (info & promo photos) is for me one of the most pleasant surprises of summer 2012 lip colors. This new mini lipstick collection contains 6 double-ended lipsticks so we are actually talking about 12 new lip shades.

Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect lipsticks have been launched recently so they are available at Max Factor counters, Sephora, Douglas perfumeries, Dm drugstores and private beauty shops for the price of £8.49 /36.00 Lei.

I have 5 of the 6 colors to show you today until individual reviews will be ready.

Max Factor lets you push the boundaries of lip colour with its innovative double-ended design. Colour Effect Flipstick features one rich and creamy colour and one lighter, iridescent lipstick shade.

The colour combinations were expertly matched by Max Factor make up artists and the super-blendable formula lets you create your look with ease. You can wear each colour alone, blended together, one on each lip, or apply the second shade just to the centre of your lip. This season it’s all about lip artistry so get experimenting!

At a first glimpse I can say I really like the packaging. It’s transparent, so I can see the shades, it’s simple and easy to use, not to mention that is great to have 2 lip colors in just one lipstick.

The shades that I’ve got are:

  • #05 Bloomy Pink
  • #20 Mosaic Mauve
  • #25 Salsa Red
  • #30 Gipsy Red
  • #40 Melody Brown

I’m missing #15 Boreal Mauve so if you have this shade and you already tried it on your lips I would love if you could share your thoughts with us.

From up to bottom: #30 Gipsy Red, #20 Mosaic Mauve, #25 Salsa Red, #05 Bloomy Pink, #40 Melody Brown

Here are the swatches and I must tell you I only did hand swatches so I can’t say how the look on the lips, because the color usually looks different on lips than when I swatch it on my hand. This will be an interesting thing to see the upcoming individual reviews.

Swatches from left to right: #40 Melody Brown, #05 Bloomy Pink, #25 Salsa Red, #20 Mosaic Mauve, #30 Gipsy Red

So far I love how #05 Bloomy Pink swatches and I’m pretty sure this will be the first color I will review. It will be interesting to see how the colors will look on top of each other or if I will paint my lips differently or if I choose to wear the lightest shade just on the center on my lips.

#40 Melody Brown brings neutral shades of pale peach and light brown with shimmer, probably very good looking on contrast with tanned skin. The vibrant couple is definitely #25 Salsa Red with right color in red but not an actually true red, more like a coral red while the lightest color is a peachy shade with a slight of shimmer.
