It was about time to review my new NYX Liquid Suede colors since it has been more than a month since I did that NYX makeup haul. I’ve been testing these colors and wore them for a few days right after I bought them but I kinda prioritized other articles so I’m so sorry I’m late on this review. NYX Liquid Suede are already famous liquid lipsticks and they were available until last year in 12 shades. Well so it happens that NYX has extended the color range for Liquid Suede Cream lipsticks with 12 new more shades this year. I picked up three of the new shades and one of permanent colors which you can see lined in the photo bellow so if you are curious for lip swatches and more details follow me after the jump.

NYX Alien Liquid Suede (34.00 Lei / $7.00 for 4 ml / 0.13 fl oz) is officially described as black. It’s a dark black with a velvet matte finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage in one coat. It doesn’t feel sticky or tacky at all and it’s moderately drying. I had about 2 hours wear with this formula.

NYX Pink Lust Liquid Suede (34.00 Lei / $7.00 for 4 ml / 0.13 fl oz) is officially described as hot pink. It’s a bright, medium pink with blue undertones and a soft matte finish. It has a rich, intense color payoff. It was mostly opaque in one coat but it looked a bit streaky so I needed a second layer to even out the color. It’s quite an intense color that is fun to wear and will definitely attract attention to your lips.

NYX Run The World Liquid Suede (34.00 Lei / $7.00 for 4 ml / 0.13 fl oz) is described as bright violet with pink. It’s a bright, pinkish violet with blue undertones and a velvet matte finish. It’s a strong and intense color that comes almost opaque in one coat. It does look a bit uneven and shows empty spots in one coat so I like to come with a second layer after I let the color dry. It applies well, glides easily across the lips without leaving a sticky film behind.

NYX Subversive Socialite Liquid Suede (34.00 Lei / $7.00 for 4 ml / 0.13 fl oz) is described as wine purple. It’s a deep, dark eggplant purple with cool undertones and a velvet matte finish. The color is intense and looks absolutely gorgeous, just the kind of color I like to wear for fall. It does look a bit streaky and uneven in one coat so I’d definitely recommend waiting for the first layer of color to dry before applying another one. I had about 2 hours wear with this formula.

Final Thoughts:

All the shades had a velvet matte finish with a creamy formula leaning to a light feel. It glided fairly well across the lips, filling them with a burst of rich color. For some shades it took more than just one coat to even out the color. I liked how the formula felt on the lips, without sucking the life out of my lips so I won’t say it is very drying. After one hour wear the color started to sink into my lip lines and emphasizes them a little bit. Even though NYX claims the Liquid Suede cream lipsticks are waterproof I found that they transfer very easily, even though I let them dry and set for more than 30 minutes. The color transfers on a glass of water, napkin and even if you’ll sip from a straw you will still leave traces of color behind.

They all feel comfortable on the lips for the first hour wear, I can say they are moderately drying but without damaging my lips. I love the intensity of the shades, how rich and pigmented they are but unfortunately these don’t have a long-lasting formula so it’s best to keep them close by for a quick retouch. If you are planning on having a meal the color will come off so you’ll definitely need to reapply afterwards. So they do transfer and they are not waterproof at all.

The packaging is simple, easy to use as these come in these colored tubes with a flat doe-footed applicator. They do contain quite a lot of product and they have an affordable price as well.

I personally do like to use a lip pencil to line my lips but in the lip swatches taken bellow I haven’t. They all do look so much better and show an even color over a lip liner base. On their own they don’t run or bleed. They tend to dry faster in one coat but I personally like to apply two coats to even out the color and get that full opacity.

I love the shades, they are really fun to wear, the price point is not bad and they feel comfortable on the lips but they don’t last that long.
